A practical starting point
Build a travel packing list you can actually use
Start with the days and activities in your itinerary. A short city break, a beach day, and a long walking day can call for different things, even on the same trip.
Make a list for your own essentials
Use personal packing for the things you are responsible for bringing. Think through clothing, toiletries, electronics, and other items you use each day.
Group items into useful categories
Organize the list by categories that make sense to you. For example, keep clothing together and charging cables with electronics so you can review one part of the bag at a time.
Set out the shared items
Add group essentials to trip packing. Mark items for everyone or assign an item to the traveler who has agreed to bring it, so responsibility is clear before you start packing.
Check items off as they go in the bag
Track packed items and review anything still outstanding. Do a final check for the things you use until departure, such as your phone charger or glasses.
